A deposit contract, used mainly for resale homes, with set consequences if either side withdraws.
With the common arras penitenciales (art. 1454 of the Civil Code), a buyer who withdraws loses the deposit and a seller who withdraws returns it twice over. New-build purchases more often use a reservation followed by a private purchase contract.
