Financing off-plan property in Spain

How non-resident mortgages work on a new build, and why stage payments during construction are usually paid from your own funds.

When the bank pays

Spanish banks lend on a finished home: the mortgage is signed with the title deed at completion. Stage payments before that, covered by the aval bancario, normally come from your own funds. Plan the balance due at completion and the bank's valuation at that time.
